Lamplight Feather Earrings are all hand tied in the USA by Tony Hill and his daughters, Adrienne and Cedra, who make up Lamplight Feather Design, a division of Lamplight Feather, Inc. We have been producing feather earrings since 1973 and have had a popular outlet for our designs over the past 37 years annually at the famous Oregon Country Fair. These feather earring styles are now being offered on line for the first time.
Tony first began working with feather earring design as a sideline to his longtime business as a professional fly tyer. Feather earring construction as perfected by Lamplight Feather Design uses many of the same durable techniques as Tony once used in tying fishing flies. Tony's longtime expert use and knowledge of feathers, their variety and their particular qualities, makes Lamplight's feather earrings among the most unique and beautiful available anywhere.
With the millions of feathers available to us through our parent company, Lamplight Feather, Inc., we are able to sort through and select the best quality feathers for feather earrings. The selected feathers are matched and the stems tightly wrapped onto a metal shaft with waxed thread. A dot of penetrating varnish then coats the thread wrap for added durability and the beads fit over the wrap.

FEATHER EARRINGS - SINGLE FEATHER STYLES:
Earrings constructed of a single "stand alone" feather like the peacock eye style feather earring, orange tip, or cochettes in both dyed and natural style.
FEATHER EARRINGS - NATURAL SHORTS:
Multi-layered feather earrings tied with peacock blue, ringneck pheasant, coque, reeves pheasant, parrot (when available) and many others.
FEATHER EARRINGS - DYED SHORTS:
Multi-layered feather earrings tied with a variety of brighter dyed feathers or in combination with natural feather like white coque.
FEATHER EARRINGS - EXTRA LONG SPECIALTY:
This is a new style that has recently come into fashion and we are enjoying the new design opportunities this dramatic feather earring style offers. Long coque, peacock sword, orange tip, and red tip feathers are some of the longer feathers that we have been working with.
FEATHER EARRINGS - LAMPLIGHT PREMIUM:
Our specialty, this is a style unique to Lamplight Feather Design and is always in the highest demand. Each feather earring is built from five long (5-7 inch) natural saddle or schlappen feathers and topped with layered ringneck, peacock blue, or other topping feathers. Each pair of Lamplight Premium feather earrings requires 8-9 matched feathers per earring which then must be attached to a fine metal shaft, a technique reserved for the highly skilled and experienced feather artist. All Lamplight Premium feather earrings are tied by Tony Hill personally.
